2 Mighty Muscles!!
It was just a year ago, Carter attended his very first Sports Camp at The Dominion. He was even more excited this year and last minute we decided that Addie was more than ready for the six hour a day camp.
Never mind the minimum age of 3.5 years, Addie rocked it at 3 years and 2 months! The camp director told Julie after day one, "It's like she had been here every week this summer."
This camp is such fun for the kids and they get to play golf, soccer, tennis, basketball, swim and do arts and crafts, just to name a few activities. Each year they have the Reptile Man come and they always come home with pictures of holding snakes and lizards.
On Friday afternoon, they had a end of camp performance where every body showed off with a choreographed dance. Carter and Addie's group was called the "Tiny Tunas," and Addie had been showing me her dance all week while she practiced at home.
Carter surprised us all and absolutely nailed the dance. He was so focused and every movement was sharp and perfectly one time. I had my mouth open at how well he had learned and was performing it. Then, Addie was on the other end, just doing what she does best...
Lookn' cute and shaking her toosh. Carter kept doing this body sweep at one point in the Alvin and The Chipmunk song that would have made Madonna proud...
And then, you look back to your left, and Addie was...
Smiling as big as she could absolutely LOVING being on stage and of course, shaking her toosh! To the right... CARTER.... I think this boy has some rhythm.
And one more time to the left... ADDIE!
Everyone got an award. Like last year, Carter received THE BASKETBALL award.
And Addie got the award for ARTS & CRAFTS! That is so right on with the stage she is at at home!
My two proud Mighty Muscles babies!
Thank you Grandpa and YaYa for a great week! For two days, we have found Addie playing doctor with Smokey, dressing her babies or laying in bed, singing "MIGHTY MUSCLES."

No More Training Wheels For Carter!
We haven't been outside on bicycles since June with the extreme heat. With the pool, it hasn't even crossed our mind to bring them out but I saw on Facebook last weekend, Carter's good friend, Cash, learned to ride a bicycle without training wheels. Since we were in full bike mode early Sunday morning before the heat zapped all motivation to be outside and not in fully submersed in water, we told Carter, Cash's big news and he instantly wanted to try!
The last ever picture of Carer with training wheels. Carter helped daddy make the change.
He was instantly off. We knew he has always had good eye-hand coordination, but I was expecting a little bit of having to run holding on to the back.
He couldn't get the grin off his face.
We almost had a casualty...
Time for daddy to have some fun.
Then and Now...
Papa's turn...
Carter... are you up to something?

Addie's FIRST Bike!
PaPa Lance and Karen came to San Antonio this weekend and brought Addie a late birthday present. She couldn't even wait until she was outside to ride it. Although we had thought is was a little too big for her now, she jumped on and instantly started peddling along. WOW!
Carter ran inside and insisted Addie wear his knee pads.
Papa and Daddy did some fine tuning and Addie struck a pose while she waited.
Papa put her on for the first time...
And no kidding, she was instantly off.
Even our wonderful neighbors, Jack and Corky, saw the excitement and came over to congratulate Addie.
She was quickly keeping up with her brother in about sixty seconds.
I had a feeling the knee and elbow pads would come in handy...
Carter even offered to take Baby Marcie on a ride... Addie was following close behind.
Daddy tied Marcie to Addie's bike.
First spill... but she was A-okay!
She was back on in five second and about a minute later, we looked over and she was doing this....
Crazy girl... I have no idea where she gets this from but what a great Sunday morning!

Marathon Monday - Snakes! (Wk #3/16)
Scheduled Running: 3 miles, 4 miles, 3 miles, 7 miles = 17 miles
Actual Running: 4.5 miles (treadmill, hills, some sprinting), Kickboxing (conservatively = 3 miles, squats), 4.6 miles (with Jessica), 7.5 miles (hard, didn't walk though-85 minutes)=19.6 miles
My long run was a killer yesterday, maybe it was because my last long eight mile run was in 58 degree cool crisp California air or perhaps I had worked out Wednesday, Thursday and Friday hard and hadn't drank a drop of wine since last week! Maybe three days of wine makes running easier?!?! Wouldn't that be nice.
Snakes... you are probably asking what?!?! I had the great pleasure of running with my oldest childhood friend, Jessica, this week. The only way I could keep up with this semi-professional runner, is the fact she is seven months pregnant. Friday's 6AM run was probably the fastest run in my head. I hardly remember it because we talked the entire 45 minutes. I was throwing running questions at her left and right and we would be running up a Rogers Ranch hill and she wouldn't even have to pause to catch her breath.... I was in ahhhh! At the end of our run near Spectrum, I saw what looked like a curled up snake in the road and once I realized it was a small (24-30 inch rattle snake,) I probably had enough instant adrenaline to to run another five miles. Thank goodness, it had recently been hit by a car but it reminded me of the animals that are living in and around my running trails.
So fast forward two days to my long run at 6AM Sunday morning. I couldn't stop thinking about snakes. Every step I took, I scanned to see where one might be. I am not kidding when I say the first two miles of my run, this consumed my thoughts. I allowed it to since my book says to let your mind wander to pass time. It got a little out of control when I jumped off the sidewalk when I saw a long browned banana peel stretched out ahead. I am hoping that some time makes this little fear not consume nearly eighty minutes of my run next week.
On another note, I was excited to get a new little gadget this week since my runs are getting longer than an hour. I have never run with a cell phone, up until this point, and I was needing a little space for my energy replacement stuff on long runs.... so drum roll please, this is what I have and as of one seven and a half mile run.... I LOVE!

I put my Smart Phone - EVO, a Fiber 1 Bar & small package of energy replacement chews and I barely even felt it. It didn't even bounce. Great invention.
I have gotten a couple of emails recently asking me questions about what program I am following and I can't believe I didn't write it earlier, it is...
As of yesterday, the paperback version was only $8.75 delivered if you have free shipping with Amazon Prime. Great deal for a AMAZING book. I would have paid $40!
Struggles this week (besides snake fears): I still having sore calves and have to make a point of serious stretching after every workout. (Maybe due to this week's kickboxing class??)
I am signed up to run my first 10K this weekend with Jessica... wish me luck! ;)
