One-On-One

A couple of weekends ago, we had a rare weekend where they four of us were divided in half for most of Saturday and Sunday. It was loads of fun to spend that extra time with just one child each and were excited to be reunited on Sunday afternoon at a FIESTA party!
Blake had been volunteering as security out at the Valero Texas Open during the week and was anxious to use his premium parking pass he had earned to take Carter out there and show him around. They spent both Saturday and Sunday together following the golfing action. They both LOVED every single second of it.
Us gals, had big plans too! For Christmas, Addie had given Ella a cooking class at "Kinder Cooks." I can't say enough great things about this wonderful operation and was impressed with the organization and what a well oiled machine it was.
Their teachers told them that they were making "Potato Chip Cookies" and Baked Cheese Sticks.
Each child was in charge of an ingredient.
Mixing up the batter.
Taking turns pouring in the vanila and other ingredients. Addie's recent cooking class at school was paying off.
It was perfect best friend bonding time while cutting the mozzarella in half.
Making sure it's not too hot...
Perfection.
Overall, a perfect Saturday morning best friend date!

Shopping With Addie

I realize this is an activity that Addie and I will do together that will greatly evolve over a twenty year period. So I decided to document the memories at 3 years old.

TASK: To find some new big girl panties in the next size up.
MOOD: Excited but had to bribe her with a icy popcicle to hurry up and get in the car so we could go run some errands.
WHAT SHE WORE: Cotton multicolored dress ($5 from Walmart) and brown sandals that are still way too big that she took off inside North Star Mall before we walked into the store.... yuck! Oh yes and her pink fairy wings!
WHAT STORE WE WERE HEADED TO: Gymboree (because they hands down make THE BEST boy and girl underware in the WORLD! - Thank you Julie Metcalf!)
THE SCENE INSIDE THE STORE: I headed straight for the huge clearance bins and handed her a few headbands and accessories to try on. I told her to go to the back of the store and look in the mirror and decide if she liked them. Well, on the way, several women kept telling her how adorable she was so she insisted on putting on tons of new accessories and walking to the mirror to look at herself. I quickly found out she wasn't even making it to the mirror, instead, she just liked the women telling her how cute she was. After that, she parked it in front of the kid's TV and waited for me to pick out everything.
LOOT, TIME & TOTAL SPENT: Two stylish handkerchief headbands, one pair of purple sunglasses and four pairs of new XS panties. Twenty minutes. $18.17.
WHAT WE DID AFTERWARDS: Met daddy and Carter at Mema's for dinner and then church.

I can so tell this whole shopping scenario will change tremendously in the future!

Ultimate Dress Up

One night this week, Addie and I decided to have some princess dress up fun.
With my Lazaro wedding dress that I never got dry cleaned and boxed away nearly seven years ago.

So my tradition every year has been to pull it out around our anniversary and make sure it still comes close to fitting.
I decided, this week, it will be a fun tradition for Addie to join me on!
Me and my baby girl!

First Mother/Daughter Weekend!

Addie and I broke all the rules this past weekend. We stayed out both nights till after 10 PM and slept in the same bed for both nap and bedtime! We litterally didn't leave each other's side for 48 FULL hours and it was AWESOME! Megan posted some great pictures on her blog and here are a few of my favorites from our "Girls Only Best Friend Day" on Saturday.
We weren't going to let a little rain ruin our fun day!
This was Addie and my's first visit to the San Antonio Children's Museum.
Over the last 6 weeks, Addie LOVES to introduce herself, "My name is Addie Brown. What is your name?"
The mini HEB grocery store is by far the BEST part!
A little girl's dream to get to play register and actually scan her items for real to check out!

Just 6 More Months Of This....

Based on my memories with Carter, the days of Addie proactively running up to me and saying, "Mama pick up!" are numbered. I can't remember Carter wanting to be carried around for no reason a few months shy of turning 3. In the last month, Addie, has wanted to be carried and hugged more than ever and I am trying to always STOP what I am doing, NO MATTER WHAT, and enjoy these moments while they last...
My babies are growing up so fast and I am committed to taking every moment in and with the help of this blog, when I am 80, I can always look back on these little memories...
