Birthday Morning Traditions!

As Addie's two week birthday reign on the blog, I didn't want to forget the memory of her actual birthday morning. It was SO nice that it fell on a Sunday AND MeMe was in town for the BIG day! Of course, Addie chose her special breakfast to include her ultimate FAVORITE food right now.... PANCAKES. But since it was her fourth birthday, we stepped it up a notch and made them with lots of mini chocolate chips and even some whip cream, neither of which she had ever had with pancakes before!
Then she opened gifts from all of us!
Meme puts such thought into all of her grand kids presents each year and this year was no different. Apparently, Addie had told Meme on several occasions, she really wanted a princess castle. Well, Meme waved her magic Meme wand and arrived a beautiful wooden castle that both she and Carter couldn't get enough of.

Baseball In The Backyard

I love the way Addie was looking at Meme...

Deep conversations.

The Amazing Race: $300 at stake!

Meme is so good at being creative and if you remember we started a Thanksgiving tradition of the Newly Wed game a few weeks back. Over Christmas, we had a TEN stop Amazing Race style scavenger hunt through San Antonio that involved everything from skateboarding, dancing for neighbors, runs through HEB, TARGET and THE DOLLAR STORE, taking pictures of strangers in front of Lowe's, standing like a flamingo's in some stranger's home in Stone Oak, doing cartwheels in someone else's yard and Whataburger runs, just to name a few....

It was so much fun and the competitive juices really came out. With our twenty minute "San Antonio resident delay, our family came in second when we crossed the finish line at The Hardburger Dog Park!

Thanks Meme for such a fun event!

Giving out the first clue.

The Nash Family - The Before.

The Brown family ready to roll!

For the first task, the women had to skateboard around the block and their foot could not come off the board or you had to start at the beginning.

The second task involved our wonderful neighbors across the street. Each family had to go in one at a time and complete tasks like dressing up and singing certain songs.

One task involved getting a random couple to pose for a picture in front of Lowe's. Coincidentally, I think I went to elementary or middle school with this guy and had the hugest crush on him a million years ago. Kinda funny!

There were multiple puzzles along the way we had to finish in order to get the next place.

Way up in Stone Oak, Blake had to find some stranger's yard and take a picture standing like a flamingo.
In front of this fence, I had to do a cartwheel.

The race finished and we enjoyed a gorgeous morning at the park complete with a picnic lunch!

The Best Yet...

Blake and I drove out of the Dallas city limits talking about how this Thanksgiving spent with his family of seventeen all together, was the best yet. The kids being ages 9,6,4,3,3,2 and 1 just played and played and played some more. I smile looking back at the pictures from such a relaxing and fun weekend together.
Kaylee and Addie were inseperable the entire weekend.
Sean and Carter were equally tied at the hip....
 Pillow fight!!!
 Addie was banned from driving...
Lots of quality relaxation time together...
Papa Lance and Karen came in for Turkey Day from Tyler to spend the day with us...
Thursday night, Diane had planned for a fun game for the six of us. She went to great extents for us to play a version of the "Newly Wed Game." Blake and I got lucky by answering the most correct answers and were awarded a $100 Target gift card as the first place award.... I think Diane got ALL our attention with that!! She is planning some other kind of Christmas games here in San Antonio in a couple of weeks.
 Diane explaining the rules...

This back porch and amazing yard is where we spend a ton of time while in Dallas...
We took time to celebrate both Sean (9) and Carter's (5) birthdays, as a family while Nash made an amazing pot of true New Orleans style jambalaya.
 Cali enjoying some cake....
 The sensational seven...
We had SO MUCH FUN with Aunt Sharon! This was she and her sister, Diane/Meme, having some fun for the camera...
At one point, we found out, Aunt Sharon had never seen the world's best Christmas movie... so we all sat down and enjoyed it together...
Can you guess which movie it was?

Here's a clue...
Before we left, there were lots of group hugs....

... that eventually turned into DOG PILES....
...a perfect end to a great Thanksgiving.
