Carter - End Of Season Basketball

About a month ago, Carter played his last two winter basketball games and we couldn't be more impressed with who he did playing as a five year old in the under 7 league. The second to last game, Carter scored 14 points playing only half the game. He was so exciting having so many family and friends there cheering him on and we know what a boost that is to Carter when he is on the court!
In Blake's 5th season of coaching Carter's sports, he did the perfect job coaching these 5-7 year olds. He has this unbelievable gift of extreme patients and stays so calm when everything around him is chaotic. Besides wanting to teach the kids the sport, he wants each and everyone, most importantly to have fun. I am so proud of him.
 Blake and his team...
Without a doubt the "most improved team" of the season. They went from loosing the first half of the season to winning the entire second half, ultimately beating the older and much larger teams.
The family support was amazing. The Metcalf Four, YaYa and Grandpa, Erin and Matt & Lolli! (This was the game Carter scored his career high of 14 points playing half the game.) See fans do help the players!
The Perkins came for the very last game of the season.

100,000

I so love the fact that my hubby isn't vain and could care less what kind of car he drives. While many people would be shopping for a new car, Blake is so proud to have reached 100,000 MILES on his 2007 4Runner. He had been talking about it coming up, for the last few months but I really didn't give it much thought.  But when he told me we needed to leave a little earlier to go down town for a party Sunday, I knew something was up.

See, he remembers the old Toyota commercials where people got out of the their car to jump up when they reached such milestone! However, since we were on 281 South at Hildebrand, that was not happening but we managed to snap a photo.

I document this milestone because I know Blake will talk about this achievement and just in case he still has it at the 200,000 MILES, in four or so years, we can compare how much Blake has aged!!!

Daddy's Soccer Game!

Finally, several weeks into his season, he had a game before the kid's bedtime. So we loaded up and headed to the soccer field to cheer on daddy. It was so neat for us to see Blake play and I have to say I didn't know how fun indoor soccer is to watch!

If it wasn't for the hair on the legs....

...you would think this was Carter before a soccer game, but look closely, these are legs of a soon to be thirty-four year old.
It is 10:04 Monday night and my husband just left for his 10:30 PM D-2 soccer game.  He plays on a team of die-hard-soccer-is-life-Mexican-nationals. Those young twenty somethings (not Blake) play in leagues 3 TIMES A WEEK!!!!!!
He's going to kill me for posting this but I think it's important for Carter, one-day to  fully realize, where his athleticism comes from. I can't wait for an upcoming 6:30 or 7:30 game so I can show the kids their super daddy in action. Until then, I look forward to him crawling in bed each Monday night un-injured with a smile of competitiveness on his face.
