#13 on my bucket list was "Girls Weekend At Texas Wineries!" I found six of the most fun, amazing girls and we left seven husbands and fourteen children four years and under to fend for themselves and embarked on a day of adult only beverage tasting in Fredricksburg.
Part of the time, we took time to learn some fun stuff about wines, like clarity...
..and how to properly aerate a good glass of red.
However most of the time, we were wrapped up in good conversation.
We hired a driver which was definitely the way to go for an entire day of hopping from winery to winery.
The multiple "Type A" personalities ensured we had a perfectly stocked ice chest of gourmet cheeses, breads and fruits for our one mile commutes from each winery! ;)
Our favorite red wine there was the Classico. This was a very laid back and relaxing winery and on Saturdays has live music and huge outside cabana to relax under.
Alan, our retired Horseshoe Bay Realtor, was the perfect laid back host pouring us lots of great wines.
The great laughter at this place was contagious.
Here we took their tour and learned everything about making wine!
"Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young." -Henry Ford
We ended the tour with tastings straight out of the oak barrells. We got to compare the taste of the very same wine from three differet barrells. It is amazing the complete different tastes they each had. Can you belive one new oak barrell costs around $850 and they can only use it two times. Very interesting.
Down in the cellar.
After a quick break at the hotel, we walked down Main Street and admired the adorable Vintage/Modern shops enroute to our dinner.
Megan had her first scallops!
It was a long and leisurely dinner filled with at times incredibly sad and equally as funny stories of each of our lives and the things that are important to us as wives, mothers and friends!
We ended the weekend with a miracle of sleeping in until the unheard of time of 8:20AM and relaxed at breakfast before heading home to our babies!
